Jalan Kayu, and Casuarina is nice. But I am out to prove a point.
There is good food in the West, the real half of Singapore, where the industries are, people work, and live :). Must I always drive halfway around the island, struggle for scare parking lots, jostle for a seat, squeeze beside a family of fourteen uncles, cousins and nieces, just to get my prata?
Well, no! I came upon Enaq restaurant totally by chance. It just showed up on googlemaps when I was searching for a place to execute other evil plans, and wow, what a find.
The plaster was well executed, the plain prata was divine!
Prata was sketchy, crispy on the outside, chewy within. Delicious! The fold their plain prata, instead of using the “rope” method, but the dough had been stretched thin, the frying well executed. This is as good as Jalan Kayu!
In addition to the usual curry, they serve their prata with a hot chilli paste, which was deep, smoky and dark. Unfortunately, I didn’t appreciate burning my tongue.
I was there early on a Saturday morning, stopping by before heading into work, and already the place was getting busy, as you can see from the number of plates this waiter is juggling.
The place was getting steadily crowded as I got up to leave, so I say, to my Western friends, this is worth getting up early for! Try to get there by 7 am, I say!
